  22. ------------------------
  23. This  demo  distribution  may be freely copied as long as all files are
  24. included and the following conditions are adhered to.  No more than USD
  25. $5.00   may   be  charged  for  a  floppy  disk  containing  it.   This
  26. distribution  is  for  evaluation  purposes  only,  any use beyond that
  27. requires  purchase  of  the complete PC-Task 3 package.  All references
  28. describing/advertising  this distribution must clearly state that it is
  29. a  Demo  version.   This  demo distribution may be freely placed on any
  30. CD-ROM  as  long  as  the  above  conditions are adhered to.  This demo
  31. distribution  may  not  be  placed  on any Magazine Cover Disk or Cover
  32. CD-ROM,  without the express written permission of Quasar Distribution.
  33. You  may  not  decompile,  dissasemble,  reverse  engineer,  modify, or
  34. translate the program or documentation.

  37. About the Program 
  38. ----------------- 
  39. Even  though  the world computer market is still dominated by PC's, the
  40. Amiga range of computers is excellent.  You may wish to run PC software
  41. but  do  not want to purchase a second computer.  This is where PC-Task
  42. is  ideal.   It  allows you to run the majority of PC software packages
  43. (that  require  an  80286  processor  or below) on your Amiga computer,
  44. making use of the peripherals and memory (up to 16MB) which you already
  45. own.

  47. The  Multitasking  capabilities of the Amiga range of computers is what
  48. has  set it apart from other computer systems.  PC-Task is no exception
  49. -  it  works  without taking over your computer.  When in operation the
  50. PC-Task  application  can  be  switched  to  when  required.   Multiple
  51. versions of PC-Task can be executed at the one time allowing you to run
  52. multiple  PC  packages at once.  At last pre-emptive multitasking comes
  53. to  the  PC!   The  main  down  side  of  software  emulation is speed,
  54. however,the faster your Amiga, the faster PC-Task's emulation will run.

  57. Program Description
  58. -------------------
  59. PC-Task  3  is the first and only software 80286 emulator for the Amiga
  60. range of computers.
  61.  
  62. The following features are included in this release:

  64. - Switchable 8086/80286 emulation
  65. - Support for up to 16MB RAM (15MB extended) of PC memory
  66. - Up to 2 floppy drives and 2 hard drives supported
  67. - Supports hard disk files and hard disk partitions
  68. - High density floppies and CD-ROM support
  69. - Select from MDA, CGA, EGA, VGA and SVGA (512K-2MB) video modes
  70. - Support for up to 256 colours on AGA machines (32 on Old/ECS machines)
  71. - Compatible with graphic boards (eg. EGS Spectrum, Picasso)
  72. - Parallel, Serial and PC speaker emulation
  73. - Mouse support, including Serial Mouse emulation
  74. - Run multiple PC-Task processes on the same machine
  75. - Run MS-DOS applications in a window on a public screen (eg. Workbench)
  76. - Transfer files between your Amiga and MS-DOS
  77. - Support for David Salamon's GoldenGate bridge cards
  78. - Compatible with MS Windows 3.0 - 3.11 *

  86. About this Demo
  87. ---------------
  88. This  demo  has  been  released  to give you some idea of the speed and
  89. functionality  of  the  PC-Task  package.   You will not be able to run
  90. software that needs to write to disk (such as MS Windows, FDisk, Format
  91. etc.).   This  demonstration  version  is  a  generic  680x0 version of
  92. PC-Task  and  is  considerably  slower  than the full 68020_60 specific
  93. version.   We  estimate  that the demo is 25% slower on a 68020/30, 20%
  94. slower on a 68040 and very much slower on a 68060 (due to the 68060 not
  95. having one often used instruction inbuilt anymore).

  97. The  full  package  contains  the  following  features  which have been
  98. removed from this demo:

  100. - A comprehensive user reference manual
  101. - Writing to Floppy/HardDiskPartition/HardDiskFile enabled.
  102. - Parallel port emulation enabled.
  103. - Optimized version for 68020 and higher processors
  104. - Turbo Version (requires 4x RAM for speed increase)
  105. - The hardfile.device so you can use a Filesystem to access your PC-Task 
  106.   or Bridgeboard HardDiskFile from AmigaDOS.
  107. - An MS-DOS program to copy files from AmigaDOS to PC-Task
  108. - An MS-DOS program to copy files from PC-Task to AmigaDOS
  109. - An MS-DOS program to show AmigaDOS directories under PC-Task
  110. - An MS-DOS program to quit PC-Task
  111. - An MS-DOS program to start the mouse driver
  112. - A CD-ROM driver allowing access to CD-ROMs under PC-Task's emulation
